In 2007, Medics First was founded on three core principles for delivering superior emergency care:
Build strong relationships throughout the healthcare community.
Hold paramedics to a higher standard.
Provide a better workplace to attract top professionals.
Since then, Medics First has grown to include a fleet of 11 ambulances and employ a team of over 40 paramedics, EMTs, and office staff. It offers the latest medical technology in the hands of highly-skilled clinicians who are dedicated to providing compassionate care. Medics First's crews provide expert patient care, every hour of every day.
In August of 2019, Medics First was purchased by Advanced Medical Transport, a nationally-accredited and recognized regional Emergency Medical Services provider, based in central Illinois. As a member of the AMT family, Medics First will become Springfield’s first not-for-profit ambulance service, operated for community benefit, and guided by a community-based Board of Directors.
“We are extremely excited about bringing Medics First to the AMT family of emergency medical services providers,” said Greg Chance, CEO Medics First. “We will continue to provide compassionate care tailored to meet the needs of patients and their families, as well as becoming a responsible and respected corporate citizen of the Springfield area.”
Chance previously served as Vice President of Strategy for Advanced Medical Transport.
Now, as a subsidiary company of Advanced Medical Transport, Inc., Medics First will continue to grow and move forward, providing the highest quality delivery of health and community care services in the region. The company will bring a commitment to the area, building strong, long-term relationships and investment in the community.
Direction and oversight of the company comes from the Springfield community itself, by the way of a diverse Board of Directors comprised of local leaders and stakeholders from business, government and healthcare.
“At the core of AMT’s mission is the fundamental principle of putting the patient and family at the heart of every decision and empowering them to be genuine partners in their care. Safety and high-quality patient care are our top priorities,” said Chance.
